With dead week almost over and finals week coming up, I can honestly say that games are low on the priority list. I find myself once again in need of a break from video games... yet at the same time the CAL ET:QW Season 2 is starting up and I have to manage a team. Fire alarms being pulled at 3AM every day, wars between the dorms, yes, the last weeks of school are definitely hectic. I couldn't tell you what the boys have been up to, Battlefield, Call of Duty, who knows?

As I sit here in my 7:50 Management Class, I have to decide: pay attention, or let it slide? *Yawn* I guess I should take some notes seeing as we're reviewing for the final exam.

In other news, I hear a new build of Legions is out, and that it is absolutely dang awesome. If you happen to find someone in the Beta, I hear they each received two invites.

So for the last week and in the next week, life as a gamer is at a standstill.

EnemyTerritory.tv Posted by Jesse
Big news for the Enemy Territory: Quake Wars community. As of yesterday, April 6th, 2008, EnemyTerritory.tv has launched.

In an effort to stimulate the competitive community playing ET:QW, the joint efforts of some influential community members has produced EnemyTerritory.tv. ET.tv is not just another shoutcasting website. ET.tv will include live video feeds of the matches being shoutcast (so you don't even have to own the game), pregame and postgame shows, guest appearances, and more.

In addition, there will be archives of the casted matches as soon as they are finished, as well as demo uploads for the entire community to view. This really is a great undertaking and the community is intended to expand greatly. Please support ET.tv, join the shoutcasts, buy the game, become part of the community.

EnemyTerritory.tv is currently looking for writers or 'informers' to add to their staff. This position would include writing about potential strategies, having the low-down on teams, predictions, map information, everything related to the comeptition in ET:QW. So if you find yourself with a bit of free time, enjoy writing, and like to know the latest and greatest in the competition world, send Mattc0m an email or use the contact link at EnemyTerritory.Tv.

Games: Present & Future Posted by Jesse
Well, what do we have here? Team Fortress 2? Battlefield Heroes? Pay to play? Free to play? Where do we go from here? I find a lot of these questions have been running through my mind lately. Without a gaming computer, and only this amazing Macbook Pro to run my games on, I am limited in hard drive space.

So let's take a look at where we are and where we're going.

At the moment we're seeing a lot of Call of Duty 4 and Battlefield 2.

For a brief compare and contrast, Call of Duty 4 is entirely infantry based with fully customizable classes. With many game modes and methods of administering the game (research Tactical Real, that's what I play), Call of Duty 4 is easy to pick up and play without having a team to back you up. Favored Game Mode: Search and Destroy.

Battlefield 2 almost feels ancient compared to CoD4, well, actually, it does feel ancient. The movement is slow, the infantry combat is very poor, and the maps have been around for... three years now? Well, that doesn't matter. Battlefield 2 is not a game you can just pick up and play by yourself, while expecting to accomplish anything. Look for a group of at least three or four people to hook up with (look for tags Recon or -:{SOT}:-) and dominate the field.

All in all, both good games, and both have their place.

Looking to the future, GarageGames' Instant Action Beta of Legions is active. I've heard from some members in the beta that the maps need a lot of work, and it isn't quite Tribes. Perhaps it is still worth a look, but I know I won't be playing it.

More to come on Legions in the future.
